Thank You Gorgeous

Baltimore Ravens wide Receiver Jacoby Jones had a nice game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The sixth year veteran had over 100 return yards and scored the Ravens only touchdown that night. His performance isn’t what I want to focus on though. It’s what happened after the final whistle blew.

Jones was interviewed by NBC’s Michele Tafoya immediately after the game and before the interview ended, Jones left Tafoya with a wink and a “thank you, gorgeous.” Tafoya is a professional and played the comment off, but Jones is also a professional and should know better. Would Jones have made the same comment for a male reporter? Of course not! Why would he put Michele Tafoya in that situation? It’s not like this is his first interaction with a female reporter.

My question for you is do you consider this harassment? Do you think the NFL should do anything about his comments? I would love to hear your opinion, leave a comment below.

  1. What you should be asking is what did she have to say about this? Was she offended? It is not our place to be offended for her. This is what is wrong with people today, we spend so much time trying to find offense that we overlook people simply playing around or joking. For all we know they are friends and it is a simple playful gesture. Or maybe he is feeling shy over the attention from the media. Without knowing whether she was offended this si just a non-issue. And people are trying to make it an issue. With all the issues that are facing us today why make up an issue.

  2. Dave,

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it. I have looked around the internet but have not seen any response from Michele Tafoya.

I am not trying to make this an issue, but it is a story that fits what I am trying to do with this blog and project.

You can bet that Jones would not have done that with a male reporter. Even if they were friends, he just put his friend in awkward situation. I agree people can be a little too sensitive, and in the grand scheme of things this isn’t that bad, but it is still something Tafoya shouldn’t have had to deal with.
